We knew we were in for a treat when we saw how scenic the bus ride up was. The newly built "Sea to Sky" highway was impressive following the coast from Vancouver all the way up to Whistler. Once we arrived in Whistler were immediately blown away at how amazing the town looked. After checking into the campsite and setting up the tent we walked into town to have a look.
The Konekee Crankworks Festival was just starting and we watched some of the duel slalom that was the days event. Some food followed and we wandered town looking around. Dinner followed then back to the campsite for bed.
I had never seen a campsite like this before, our allocated tent site was like a "outdoor hotel room" it was a small lot surrounded by trees with a picnic table and place for fire.
The following day we took the Peak to Peak Gondola in the morning. The Peak to Peak Gondola is the worlds highest and longest and runs from Whistler to Blackcomb Mountain. The Gondola was pretty amazing and offered exceptional views.
In the afternoon we watched the Garbanzo Downhill race. It was great to see the race was won by a Kiwi, Justin Leov. Emline Ragot came second in the women, but unfortunately i did get a chance to chat. Dinner followed and then back to the campsite for bed.
Then it started to rain...
